Craig Cooper, CPFA

Managing Advisor

Craig brings a big-picture perspective to client meetings and is cognizant of the parts and team members required to put a plan together. Coming from the world of large yacht and project management, Craig is aware of the level of detail needed in full-service financial planning and investment management.

In his role as financial advisor, Craig helps clients efficiently implement financial strategies to stay on track toward their life goals. As a small business owner for 12 years, Craig has a keen interest in working with closely held and family-owned businesses. He has a passion for company retirement plans and advising businesses on short- and long-term financial strategies. In the fall of 2025, Craig started Balance Financial – Planning & Investment Strategies, an LPL Broker Dealer firm.

A native of Washington State, Craig grew up in the Puget Sound region and graduated from Western Washington University. In his former life, Craig worked on research boats, developed and ran a successful marine services business and was a technical and service resource manager in the superyacht industry. The shift from yacht management to financial planning was a natural one for Craig. He has learned along the way that each project is unique to the individual client.  Craig’s calculated and thoughtful approach to his client’s needs is one of his strongest attributes.
Having lived in Whatcom County for almost 30 years, Craig is happy to call Bellingham home. His wife is a nurse at Whatcom Hospice and they have two children. When not chasing his kids around, Craig enjoys getting outside, playing pickleball and racing sailboats. Since 2019, Craig has served as board member for the Community Boating Center in Bellingham.
